This photograph is in the private collection of Lois C. Jenkins, a descendant of the Nickerson Family of Madison, NH. Ms. Jenkins scanned and provided this high-resolution image, which we have permission to share here.

Here is her description of the photo: “[This] is a school picture of the children who were attending what I believe to be the old Nickerson school in East Madison, ca 1900, as my grandfather, George Robert Nickerson, is the second boy from the right in the second row of seated children, and he was born in 1890.  His brother Angus Martin Nickerson is the boy on the far right, same row.”

Nickerson School is located on East Madison Road, at the intersection of Maple Grove Road. The building is still standing, and is now a private residence.

Here is her description of the photo: “Willow Farm in Madison taken 3 Feb 1937, owned I believe at the time by the mother of the William Manley who wrote the Snowville radio shows.  My grandmother, Erma (Alley) Nickerson, was the cook there at the time.”

Willow Farm was located on what is now Conway Road (Route 113), two houses north of the intersection with Colby Hill Road.
